Our Mission

The Ama Foundation funds Ama Ghar, a permanent care home in Nepal for at-risk homeless children who have been abandoned, trafficked or have lost their home and family to poverty, drug/alcohol abuse or illness. We are dedicated to providing these children with a loving home, an excellent education, health care and the confidence to become productive, self-supporting adults. We are investing in the future of Nepal by educating the mothers and fathers, teachers, business leaders, social workers and professionals of the next generation.

We believe in:

Treating each child as an individual and raising them in a loving family environment.
Providing each child with the training they need to become confident, productive, self-sustaining adults. In some cases, this means vocational training and in others it means higher education. Ama Ghar children attend English-speaking schools as English is often a requirement for a good job.
Teaching the Ama Ghar children about their civic and community responsibilities and engaging them in the life of their local village, their city and their country.
