Maya, age five, arrived at Ama Ghar with her brother Kamal in March of 2023. They were rescued from an area populated by people who pick through garbage to survive. They were a little bit fearful when they arrived, but by the third day, Maya said, “Good morning, Bonnie Auntie!”. It’s unusual for children to adapt to quickly, so that is a wonderful sign.
