One of our oldest Ama Ghar girls, Manisha, has always been an excellent student and a great athlete – and now she’s adding a new talent to her long list… she’s a pizza chef!
Manisha is in the second year of a Bachelor’s program in Hospitality at Silver Hill, the best hospitality school in Kathmandu, where she received a partial scholarship. She reports that it’s very challenging, but that she loves her classes. She will learn every aspect of Hotel Management, from hands-on cooking and serving to accounting and personnel management. At the end of four years, she will have a Bachelor’s Degree; and this, plus her experience as an intern at the Summit Hotel, should put her in line for a job in Nepal’s primary industry of tourism.
But in the meantime, Manisha has learned enough culinary arts to bake her brothers and sisters some amazing New Year’s pizza – thick, chewy crust with cheese, tomato sauce and green peppers. It got rave reviews!
