Ama Foundation Board Member Fred Doar was planning the trip of a lifetime – a trek up to Everest Base Camp with renowned guide Melissa Arnot. But he wouldn’t consider a trip to Nepal without a visit to the kids who mean so much to him at Ama Ghar.
Fred has made several other visits to Ama Ghar, sometimes with his own children, so he has known many of the Ama Ghar kids since they were very young. This visit was special, as he got to see Pratima, who has grown into an outstanding young woman with a bright future ahead of her. Pratima was the first Ama Ghar child that Fred supported – he met her when she was in elementary school.
Another highlight of his visit was a chance to present a new laptop to Manisha, who is in the second year of her Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality and Hotel Management. He gave the laptop in the name of his Princeton class of 1977 – thanks so much!
It’s not necessary to travel that far to do something meaningful for the Ama Ghar children, but they do love having visitors – please come for a visit soon! Or if you want to do something for Fred and help the kids at the same time, check out his Planet Freddo ties and leggings at http://www.planetfreddo.com/shop_planet_freddo – they would make perfect holiday gifts – and all profits go to Ama Ghar.
