A Busy Spring at Ama Ghar

We have had a very hot spring season with many forest fires in the Godavari area near our home. Luckily we got some early rain storms that helped with the fires – and in between the heat and the rain we harvested our potatoes!

With the start of the new school year, the children were excited to wear their new raincoats as they marched off to school. Since we have so many new little ones, we will add a bus trip to school for the monsoon so they can get to school without being soaked and covered with mud.

Uma was busy with her “back to school” hair cutting duties. The short hairdos are so much easier to manage than braids at this age and we think much cuter.

In addition to all this activity, the Ama Ghar briquette factory also leaped into action. We used all of our briquettes for cooking during the blockade so we have to replace our inventory so we can bake our Christmas cookies and pizzas when the time comes. Everyone takes turns working in the briquette factory – even the little ones.
