On October 30, the Board of Directors of Ama Ghar in Nepal, the Ama Ghar children and staff, and the Ellison family were joined by visiting friends for a “soft opening” of the new Ama Ghar home.
Although the children will not be moving into the home for a few more weeks, the construction is essentially complete, and the moment was right for the presentation of a plaque to Laura Mae Ellison, in memory of her husband, Tom Ellison, who brought his family to Nepal when he came to work here in the 1950’s. The Ellison family donated funds for the building of the new home, and the plaque was intended to show our appreciation.
Thank you to the Ellison family, and especially to Laura Mae (called “Granny” by the kids) for making a long journey to cut the ribbon and initiate this happy occasion! There will be a more formal opening ceremony after the children are moved into the house – so stay tuned.

Bonnie,
How wonderful to help all those children that need it so bad over there. To teach them them how wonderful life can be, to learn and to feel love from others. What a wonderful accomplishment by those who love and care for others. It was great to see the pictures of Laura Mae, she looks great. Memories of our years past come rushing back as I watch the video and see all the changes there in Nepal and the changes you are making in the lives of these children.
Best wishes always,
Lois
