Ama Foundation Co-Sponsors the Himalayan Film Festival

    May 19, 2014

This past Friday and Saturday were very special days for the Himalayan people of the Bay Area – for those were the dates of the spectacular Himalayan Film Festival.

Ama Foundation co-sponsored the Festival with our friends at many other non-profits that benefit Nepal and other Himalayan countries, including Curry Without Worry (which provided the food for opening night); Nepal Youth Foundation; Sahayeta, which raises funds to provide education for children in the remote region of Humla; and Usha Lama of Third Eye Travel.

Rob Sanders, Ama Foundation Board Chair, was able to tell the Ama Ghar story to the film festival crowd during a special session on opening night of the Festival in San Francisco, as he participated on a panel with Ama Ghar founder Shrawan Nepali and Olga Murray, founder of Nepal Youth Foundation. It was a wonderful opportunity to share the story of our home and our children with an appreciative and enthusiastic audience – thanks to the Festival organizers for that.

And, of course, the films were amazing – from the opening night feature about the Kamlahari to a film shown at the Himalayan Fair about young men who strive to join the Gurkas.
