Hands Across Mountains

One of the many things that makes Ama Ghar so special is our international Ama Ghar family, a group of loving, giving and dedicated people who support our children in so many ways – not only financially, but with mentoring and emotional support, just like a real family.

A beautiful example of this is our friend Adam Dickenson (Adam Brother to the kids) who visited Ama Ghar with his friends Stacey and Ian in 2009 while on a trek through the Himalayas. Though he hasn’t been able to return, he’s never forgotten his commitment to the children, so he’s started a remarkable fundraising venture called Hands Across Mountains.

Adam works as a Biological Science Technician at Yosemite, and on his summer breaks he backpacks the mountain ranges of the world. This year, he’s asking his friends and supporters to make a pledge for every mile he walks… and 100% of the proceeds will go to Ama Ghar. This is evidence, once again, that each of us can make a difference… in this case, literally one step at a time.
