The Momo Family’s Ama Ghar Story: “We fell in love with this incredible place…”

    June 26, 2026
Two teenage girls with a young girl between them work on a puzzle.
The Ama Ghar children love playing with the Moser (aka Momo) Family, who are long-time supporters and visitors to Ama Ghar!

We are a Swiss family of four, known as the Momo Family for the children. We first arrived at Ama Ghar in December 2013 with our two daughters, Loudmila, who was 13, and Saskia, who was 11. Ama Ghar was introduced to us by our friends Sarah and Alain Nikles.

We fell in love with this incredible place and were deeply moved by its atmosphere. Seeing so many children living together, each with their own complex story, the age differences, and all of it in such harmony, touched us deeply. It’s wonderful to see how the older ones help the younger ones, how everyone takes on the tasks assigned to them, and how everyone respects the particularities of others with kindness. It’s so touching to spend time with the children and to understand those who want to share. What a pleasure to be able to accompany the little ones to the Fun Park or to share a meal with the adults or alumni!

We knew immediately that it wouldn’t be the only time we would come and were certain we would return! Living in Geneva, we participate as much as possible in all the activities of Ama Ghar Switzerland in order to raise funds by organizing events. Since our first visit, we’ve gone back as often as possible. Each time, we’ve asked the airlines for humanitarian baggage allowances and bring as much as we can.

What’s wonderful is seeing the bonds forged between the children among themselves, between the children and the team, and the bonds that our children have forged with the children of Ama Ghar. Our children grew up in Switzerland while maintaining ties with the children of Ama Ghar. As parents, it’s one of the most beautiful things we could have given them. They’ve maintained connections with children their own age, even those no longer at Ama Ghar. Whether they’re in transition or graduated from the program, they’re living their own lives, having left the nest and flying on their own.

We are full of admiration and affection for Bonnie and her involvement. What more can we say… except that we can’t wait to go back!
