A blog post from Bonnie Auntie:
In addition to our mission of raising good Nepali citizens, we as an organization also have a mission to ensure that Ama Ghar is one of the best children’s homes in Nepal. Our priority is the children,of course, but it is equally as important to practice good governance and work closely together with the various government agencies.
Bonnie Ellison, Country Director of Ama Foundation and Shekhar Silwal, Treasurer of Ama Ghar, recently signed our Project Proposal for the next five years with the Social Welfare Council. We are proud to say that it was processed through the various Ministries without a single change.
We also just completed our five year Social Audit, which is our chance to inform and discuss our past and future plans with our neighbors and local authorities. We pride ourselves on being good neighbors and a contributing organization in our local area. Some of our Ama Ghar “alumni” were in attendance when we presented the Social Audit to government agencies so that they could take questions and share their successes. Two other students were assigned to manage our projector and take minutes of the Meeting. Vijaya KC, President of the Ama Ghar Board, and Sailendra Shrestha, our Vice President, helped to present and answer questions. Overall, it has been a very satisfying month of accomplishing two very important administrative tasks.
