A Heartfelt Fundraiser in Mill Valley

The December 14th Ama Foundation fundraiser sponsored by the Mill Valley Mountaineering Club (AKA Board Member Fred Doar) was a huge success – thanks to the superhuman efforts of Fred Doar, his wife Marianne and the board and, of course, the warm hearts and high holiday spirits of the attendees.

The room was decked out in colorful prayer flags, and art from Fred Doar, Barbara Moffat, Chuck Goldman, Wyatt Ellison, Virginia Cassetta and others brightened the scene, as did Fred’s daughter Maddie Doar and her friends who modeled colorful athletic wear from Planet Freddo. Founder Shrawan Nepali and his team from Curry Without Worry provided appetizers, dancing and drumming to the enjoyment of all.

Everyone had a wonderful time, learned a lot about the Ama Ghar kids and their successes, and danced the night away to the amazing band Wonderbread5, while raising six months’ worth of operating expenses for Ama Ghar.

We really are a family – thanks to all who donated so generously – Ama Ghar would not exist without you.

Thanks also to the many, many people it took to make this happen – especially Fred – and we’re already thinking about how to make it bigger and better for 2018.

Happy Holidays!

Founder Shrawan Nepali and his Curry Without Worry team had a blast!

  1. It turned out to be a wonderful, very special evening. Thanks to everyone who came and supported our cause. I’ll be taking some people to Everest Base Camp in May and plan to visit Ama Ghar May 2nd.

    Thanks again!
