Ama Ghar’s Fred Uncle Goes Nationwide!

children Fundraising 2 Comments

Ama Foundation Board Member Fred Doar, known as Fred Uncle to the Ama Ghar kids, is at it again. As the founder of Grace Bakery, he built one of the first and finest artisanal bakeries in the Bay Area. Upon his retirement, he became an artist, creating  fantastic abstract paintings that were a personal expression of his energy and giving spirit.

Fred’s latest venture? A line of designer ties and scarves branded Planet Freddo –  based on his paintings. As you can see in the photo below, they’re as vibrant and full of life as Fred himself. The most wonderful part of all is that the Planet Freddo line has been picked up by Macy’s, to be sold in their stores nationwide… and a percentage of the proceeds helps to fund Ama Ghar. And the full story was in the San Francisco Chronicle’s Sunday magazine – see below.

So if you’re looking for a beautiful gift that will be cherished by the recipient, head to Macy’s for some Planet Freddo wearable art. We thank you!
